What We Collect

We collect operational data such as page requests, basic browser/device metadata, referrer information, and error logs so we can run and secure the service.

We may also collect aggregate page views and a small set of product interactions, such as selecting a tracked conflict, opening a briefing or source, changing an Updates filter, following a feed, or choosing to support the site. Event properties use bounded labels such as a conflict slug or filter name; they do not include news headlines, search text, admin pages, API routes, or credential-bearing URLs.

We also keep aggregate counts of Share-menu opens, successful sharing actions, and direct visits from links created by those actions. Shared links carry bounded method, page-surface, and conflict labels; those markers are removed from the address bar on arrival so a refresh is not counted again.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The site and its service providers may use cookies or similar storage technologies for essential functionality, analytics, fraud prevention, and ad delivery measurement.

Your browser controls cookie behavior. Disabling cookies can reduce functionality or affect ad relevance and analytics precision.

The optional watchlist and “since your last visit” summaries store watched conflict slugs and visit baselines in this browser's local storage. To measure active watches without an account, the browser also creates a random identifier. We store only a one-way hash of that identifier with the conflict slug and a last-seen time; we do not store the raw identifier or an IP address in the watch record. Watch records expire after 90 days without another visit. This is not an emergency-alert subscription. Unwatch conflicts to remove their server-side watch record; clear this site's stored browser data to remove the local watchlist and identifier.

Third-Party Advertising

If advertising is enabled, third-party ad partners may collect and process data according to their own policies, including the use of cookies for ad personalization, frequency capping, and campaign reporting.

We do not control how external ad partners combine data collected across different websites or apps.

How Data Is Used

Data is used to operate the dashboard, monitor service health, detect abuse, troubleshoot incidents, and measure aggregate performance.

We do not sell personal data directly as a standalone product.

Data Sharing and Retention

We share data with infrastructure and service providers only as needed to host, secure, analyze, and monetize the site. Retention periods vary by data type and operational necessity.

We may retain logs longer when required for legal compliance, security investigation, or fraud prevention.
